the little details

"The true secret of happiness lies in taking a genuine interest in all the details of daily life

and elevating them to an art."   - William Morris

What are the artful details in your life these days?

The details are all there, it's just finding the time to see them. Thanks for the reminder Tracy! I've been trying to keep my pace as slow as possible with a new baby. Luckily I had my parents around last weekend to help with the quick ones, aka my 2 year old and 3 year old! Here are my best shots from their visit.

I struggle to find the time to elevate those details! I want to ... but dirty diapers and dog hair tumble weeds often stand in my way. Instead I stole away from those particular details and went looking for some in my new town. Trying to catch the fall foliage before it is gone. Here's my BSM.

today the details are the lights... my living room lamp broke and i have been arranging christmas lights all around the room. lanterns and vases filled with gold globe lights, star lights hanging from mirrors, it's so sweet. makes the room feel like a holiday. i don't think i will get a new lamp!

I went to the Metal Museum in Memphis this weekend for their annual Repair Day. It was very cool. Here's my BSM... http://www.flickr.com/photos/divrchk/3999816232/

Tracey, You are a photographer after my own heart. I love the little details. Although I love photographing faces (especially my daughters, which I did for todays post) and the character that each one has, I find sometimes that the little details can say so much more.

Heres my BSM

On this three day Columbus Day weekend I am definitely celebrating the simple things:

I'm sorting through the details...taking e-courses and workshops; playing with colour, playing with words...finding my centre and being able to speak through my art as poignantly as possible.

little details today--honoring the cold, crisp fall afternoon with a lunch of pierogi w/ caramelized onions and apples even if I'm the only one in the house who enjoyed the dish--even if I'm the only one who revels in the shift to cool weather comfort foods. No photo though....I had lunch for the little ones to make as well! Here's a lovely shot of my 5yo at her first big horse show yesterday.

those red buttons just pop...it IS all about the details as my daughter has recently shown me :)

Art...Lately with the season's change I find that art is everywhere in Nature.

Lovely quote choice Tracey.

Here is my first entry into the BSM.

i really love that quote tracey. you know i've actually not even stopped to think much about the little artful details. though, i was just saying to my husband that there are some amazing photographers around (i have some of their photos hanging up on a wee line above my desk - my inspiration wall if you will) and i love how so many of them can take something so simple in everday life and turn it into something extraordinary. i feel like i haven't really found my own photographic style yet and there's some little detail that i'm still overlooking that will help me to find it!

phew... thanks for asking the question - i guess i really needed to think about that!

amazing timing ... i had been pondering all the details in my life, those things i never want to forget; the things i want to take notice of ... in the past couple of weeks i've been celebrating the little things. here is my entry for today: http://dandelionseedsanddreams.blogspot.com/2009/10/goddess-of-small-things.html

the little things - the details are all i can do at the moment... the big plans and organisations are beyond my reach... so i admire the sleeping with abandon the cat achieves, the fact i have a roof over my head, the thrush outside on the grass...none of which, when i consider how achingly beautiful they are seem small at all...

Love the quote, and the sweet details you show us. Our details were perhaps not the most artful, but they were beautiful to me nonetheless.
